Ellen Orleans
Ellen Orleans is the author of five
books of queer humor and social satire,
including
The Butches of Madison County,  
which won the mildly-coveted 1996
Lambda Literary Award. Her work has
appeared in
The Washington Post, Girl
Jock Magazine, Wilma Loves Betty
(Alyson
Press, 1999),
Reinventing Community
(Fulcrum, 2006) and many other
anthologies.

Ellen's poems and short stories have
recently been published in
Ensemble
Jourine: Hybrid Writing by Women. Her
award-winning play,
God, Guilt, and
Gefilte Fish
, was produced in 1997. In
2005, she was awarded grants to fund her
performance piece
O-8: My Visit with a
Nuclear Missile
, and her teen writing
workshops. In addition to private classes,
Ellen has taught at Naropa University, The
University of  Colorado, Upward Bound,
and Boulder Mountain Parks.  She's
currently working on her third novel,
Measuring Up and a non-fiction collection,
Trail Head, Confessions of an Outdoor
Geek
.
